Mirja Clement is a Finnish born American artist whose beautiful paintings are firmly rooted in her heritage. The mundane and everyday people and events she depicts in her work are not only inspired by personal reminiscences but her intricate knowledge of Finnish art and literature. They not only speak to us about specific experiences but transcend time and locality and appeal to us with their universal relevance. Her exquisite craftsmanship is the result of years of learning from her predecessors and experimentation with the medium that in her hands matured into excellence.
